At CCS we’re always looking for inspiring ways to share our work and give people a unique insight in the world of superyachts. This interview is a perfect way to do so. Today we talk to our owner Paul Bournas. Want to tell your yacht story? Get in touch!

Paul_BournasWhere does your love for yachts come from?

Ever since I was a young boy I have been fascinated by anything that floats. I started sailing (racing) at early age, and followed the nautical Academy to become an engineer. My fascination is the tranquility and open space. The fresh air and the soothing calmness of the sea. But also the power and unpredictability that adds to the mystery.

What is your favorite yacht?

Very difficult question as there are so many to choose from. It could be the usual suspects as Venus, Savannah, Alpha Nero, but also yachts as Okto. Every yacht has it’s charm.  The Azzam is also impressive and looking at interior as quality of the finish this is definitely a contestant. Recently we are involved in My Loyalty which has beautiful lines and a nice shark grey colour to make it stand out.

What is the best part of your job?

I love paint and have been active in the field for more than 25 years.I love boats. I love traveling. Seems like it all comes together in this job…

What have been the most important developments in the industry lately?

I would say yachts are getting bigger, building time shorter. This results in the whole paint proces being squeezed which affects quality. Furthermore I like the hybrid idea that you can create a dead ship by switching over to batteries giving complete peace, no sound and vibration and ofcourse feel efficiency.
